Dr. Hough is currently a full-time faculty member in the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice at the University of West Florida. He is also a faculty member in the university's Department of Administration and Law.  Professor Hough has also taught for the University of Maryland Global Campus for more than a decade. In his college and university teaching capacity over the past 30 years, he has both developed and taught undergraduate and graduate criminal justice and public administration courses focused on law enforcement, investigations, violence, juvenile justice,  and corrections practices and policy. Dr. Hough remains an active law enforcement and corrections academy instructor teaching defensive tactics/use of force, human diversity, general criminal investigations, homicide and robbery investigations, substance abuse, mental health populations, and juvenile inmate issues. Dr. Hough is a member (among others) of the International Association of Chief's of Police (IACP), the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association, the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), the International Law Enforcement and Education Association (ILEETA), the International Homicide Investigators Association (IHIA), the Criminal Investigation Research Network (CIRN), and the Homicide Research Working Group (HRWG).
